The Mathews High School varsity volleyball team honored its seniors—Sophia Bandurco, Morgan Driskell, Allison Foster, Abigail Kramer, and Kai McCann—in the squad’s final regular season home match on Tuesday night.
MHS hosted the West Point Pointers and came away with the victory, winning the match in three straight sets by scores of 25-13, 25-16 and 25-16. After losing to the Pointers in a hard-fought, four-set match earlier this month, this win was a big one for Mathews.
If the Lady Devils can defeat Middlesex on the road tonight, Mathews will be the number-one seed in the Conference 42 tournament next week.
McCann led the team in kills with 12 followed by Driskell and Anne Stewart with seven, and Bandurco with three. Keely Crittenden led the team in digs with 12 followed by McCann with nine and Bandurco, Mariah Robinson and Belle Massimino with four each.
