After working as Gloucester County’s building official for the past 14 years, Coke resident Paul Koll will be retiring next month to spend more time with his family.
Koll, a county resident since 1987, first started with Gloucester County in 1996 as an electrical inspector. He then took a position with King and Queen County as its building official in 1999 before returning to work for Gloucester County in 2004.
“I enjoyed my time with King and Queen,” Koll said. “But when the opportunity came up with Gloucester in 2004 … I applied being that we live in Gloucester.”
Shortly after starting as Gloucester’s building official, he was asked if he could take on the county’s Community Rating System program. He became a Certified Floodplain Manager and has enjoyed working with the citizen volunteers on the county’s Floodplain Management Planning Committee.
