The Gloucester Youth Football and Cheer League Knights played their first games of the season over the weekend against the Grafton Tabb Tigers.
The Gloucester 12U Knights achieved a shutout win of 9-0 against the Tigers. Offensive highlights include a 30-yard reception from Zayden Pluim, a seven-yard reception by Azaih Pluim, 30 rushing yards by Leo Collier and a touchdown scored by Xavier Broughman on a kick return. Defense scored first points with a safety led by Jay Stokes, Broughman and Leo Collier.
Maddison Burton and Genesis Pluim were named the most spirited cheerleaders.
The 10U Knights fell to the Tigers, 12-6, in overtime. Dreyden Pluim scored Gloucester’s only touchdown with 45 yards. Other key offensive players were Trace Rasmussen, Chase Robbins and Jacob Bloom.
On defense, Rasmussen, Kaleb McArthur, Pluim, Bloom, Sloan Locklin, Dallas Blasing, Penelope Bishop and Robbins all recorded tackles.
