Knights face off against Eagles

The Gloucester Youth Football and Cheer League played the Virginia Eagles over the weekend, experiencing tough losses across the board.

The Gloucester Red Knight Minis flag football team lost to the Eagles, 26-19, in overtime. Gloucester opened its first offensive possession of the game with a long 46-yard run by Jamere Wilson-Thomas, which set up a two-yard touchdown run by Landan Lopez. At halftime, the Knights were down, 19-6.

In the second half, the Knights defense held the Eagles scoreless for the rest of regulation due to the tackling efforts of Aiden Collins, Hunter Seltzer and Mason Ernsting. For offense, Adorian Lee scored on a 48-yard touchdown pass from Bryce Newkirk early in the second half. Lee scored a rushing touchdown from 10 yards out with less than a minute remaining on the clock. Wilson-Thomas converted the extra point on a five-yard rush, tying the game at 19-19. The Eagles came out on top, 26-19, at the completion of overtime.
