Kingston Housing Initiative

The Mathews Economic Development Authority donated $5,000 to the Kingston Housing Initiative last week to support efforts to provide workforce housing in Mathews County, including renovation of the former Kingston Parish Rectory on Main Street to create two apartments for teachers and/or first responders. Here, Joe Syslo, left, of the EDA presents an oversized check to KHI member Hunt Thompson, who said the demolition phase of the project cost $15,000 of the close to $190,000 raised thus far. The goal for the complete project is $360,000 to cover the costs of a complete redo that includes insulation, wiring, plumbing, HVAC, drywall, appliances, and everything else needed for two housing units....
