A free screening for children beginning kindergarten in the 2022-2023 school year at Mathews Elementary School will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27.

Mathews County Public Schools requires that each child who is eligible to enroll in kindergarten (child must be five years old on or before Sept. 30, 2022) for the 2022-2023 school year be screened as part of the registration process.

The screening will include checking the child’s speech, gross and fine motor skills, and basic concepts. Parents will be asked to fill out a registration form and questionnaire that will coincide with the screening. The process should take about an hour.
