Kekoka Yoga Retreat back in full form

Beautiful weather and positive vibes graced the 12th annual Kekoka Yoga Retreat held this past weekend at YMCA/APYC Camp Kekoka in Kilmarnock. The three-day event raised over $13,000 for camper scholarships. The theme for the retreat this year was “Awaken.”

The 65 yogis in attendance had experience levels ranging from “my spouse made me come” to advanced practitioners, but there was something for everyone in the varied class offerings, a release stated. Nineteen session leaders from around the region combined to provide three or four different classes in every time slot throughout the weekend.

Retreat co-chair Susan Johnson created a weekend schedule of classes that included Ashtanga, Hatha, Vinyasa and Yin styles, as well as Tai Chi, Yoga Nidra (yogic sleep), “Tranzendance,” Gyrokenetics, Pranayama, a fire ceremony/drum circle and an opportunity to view the rings of Saturn through an astronomical telescope.
