KAREN SUE MOORE

Karen Sue Moore, age 52, left us far too soon on Oct. 18, 2017 after a sudden decline in her health.

Karen was genuine, compassionate and looked after others above herself. She was witty, creative, intelligent, bluntly strong-willed, and always ready with good jokes and much laughter. Karen was known to many as “KK.”

Karen is survived by her brother, Randy Moore (partner Brent Peterson) of Nashville, Tennessee; sister, Kim Wilder of Hampton, and many close and cherished cousins, nieces, friends and neighbors.

She was preceded in death by her mother, LaVerne Evans Bunting; father, Ray L. Moore; brother, Larry Moore; and just a few short weeks ago by her beloved pet dog, Elmo.

Raised and having lived most of her life on the Peninsula, Karen moved to Gloucester and then to Mathews County in the last few years.

In addition to an extended and loving family, Karen and Elmo were known to and loved by their special neighbors and friends in the Redart community of Mathews, and in the Mobjack Estates community on Chapel Neck where she frequently visited her special cousins’ homes there. Elmo often was seen riding around Mathews in Karen’s car ready and eager for his doggie treats at local merchants’ drive-thru windows, and at the County Convenience Center.

A celebration of their lives will take place on Oct. 28 at 2 o’clock in the afternoon, at Karen’s and Elmo’s home in Redart.

The family expresses a special appreciation to Karen’s neighbors who came to her aid, and to the staff of Walter Reed ICU for their kind, compassionate and excellent care of our “KK.”

Andrews Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
