JV girls pick up three wins

Last Thursday night, the Mathews High School JV girls’ basketball team started off its three-game winning streak defeating King William by a score of 22-13. Katherine Respess and Casey Kelly led the team scoring 10 and five points, respectively. Alexis Wells followed closely behind with three, while Lexie Miles and Yolanda Fells added two points each.

 

King and Queen was thoroughly out-matched in the back-to-back games against the Lady Devils on Monday and Tuesday nights. In Monday’s game the leading scorers for the team were Jolie Ewell and Kelly each scoring six. Respess followed closely behind scoring five, and Emily Carmine and Fells scored four each. Micaela Sadler added two points for the night. During the match on Tuesday night, the game ended in a five-against-two play after three of the Lady Tigers fouled out. The uncontested match ended with a score of 52-11.
