JONATHAN WAYNE COX

Jonathan Wayne Cox, 59, of Hayes, died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2018, at his home.

Johnny Wayne retired Aug. 18, 2018, following 30 years of service, from Naval Weapons Station, Yorktown. He enjoyed working on cars and was a “Jack of all Trades.” He took pride in his work and loved being able to help others whenever it was needed. He loved Christmas and decorating for Christmas. Johnny Wayne was a Redskins fan all the way. He was a collector of lighthouses. His passion was his family, friends and his special kitties, “Sam and Bo.” He was a family man and friend to all. Johnnie Wayne will truly be missed.

He was preceded in death by parents, Bonnie and Sallie Cox, and sisters, Doris Gibson and Mary Hartman.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 33 years, Lori Cox; daughter, Jessica Cox (Ernest Harris); son, Justin Cox (Melissa); grandchildren, Justin Cox Jr., Natalie Cox, Ava Cox and Noah Coltrane; sisters, Cynthia Long and Betty Holden; aunt, Catherine Langner (Benny);  and mothers-in-law, Carolyn Murray (William) and Rose Greene. 

Funeral service conducted by the Rev. Richard Whiteheart was at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2018, at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point. Interment followed in Rosewell Memorial Garden Cemetery. The family received friends from 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2018, at the funeral home.
