Jon Josef Bolden of Gloucester, entered eternal rest and peace on March 20, 2013 in Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center.

Jon began his life’s journey on Feb. 27, 1951 in Philadelphia, Pa. Jon, “JB” as he was called by some, was the youngest son of eight children born to the late Hayes and Dorothy Bolden, who shortly returned to Gloucester, Va.

At an early age he gave his life to Christ and was a member of Zion Poplars Baptist Church. During his youth he apprenticed under his father’s guidance and soon became a master plumber and quite a skilled electrician and carpenter, all of which served him well in his building and construction career.

Jon’s career included Newport News Shipyard, several major construction firms (journeyman ironworker), and most recently Serco Industries at Cheatham Annex, Williamsburg, Va.

Jon was a music lover, an enthusiastic New England Patriots fan, and an avid fisherman. His friends lovingly called him “the Captain.” He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.

Jon was preceded in death by his parents, Hayes Columbus Bolden and Dorothy Clayon Brown Bolden; his two brothers, Sheldon and Karl Bolden, and one sister, Catherine Green.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Reba Stallworth Bolden; two children, Candice Felicia Clayon Bolden and Jon Hayes Bolden; four grandchildren, Khalil Jones, Alliyah Bolden, Anthony Whitby and Elana Bolden; four sisters, Phyllis Worrell, Saundra Wilson (Kenneth), Jarniece Miller (Bill), and Tammy Harris (Everett), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 30, 2013, in Union Zion Baptist Church, Ware Neck. The interment will be in Windsor Gardens Cemetery, Dutton. The wake will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the J.K. Redmond Funeral Home, Shacklefords.
