A graveside service for John W. West, 93, of Wicomico, was held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in Rosewell Memorial Garden Cemetery, Ordinary. He died May 31, 2012 at McGuire Veterans Hospital.

Mr. West was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II. He was a retired oyster inspector from Virginia Marine Resources Commission and a member of Severn Church, Naxera.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Leona M. West; sisters, Ida Hogge, Sarah Poore, Roselle Davis, Flossie Kircher, Eunice Brooks, Susie Kircher, Elizabeth Rowe, and brother, Cecil West.

Survivors include a daughter, Alverta Wray Kellum, and two grandchildren.

The service was conducted by the Rev. Thomas Bunting.
