Jessie McGrath will be the featured artist Saturday at the Surreal Arizona Gallery in Kilmarnock. Gallery owners Alvaro Ibañez and Denise DeVries invite the community to meet McGrath and view her work at 199 Whittaker Lane from 2 to 5 p.m. “I have a personal passion for graphite—you know, plain old pencil drawings,” McGrath said. “I do watercolor, acrylic and pencil landscapes, waterscapes, many animals and some portraits.” She was raised in King and Queen County on a small farm in Little Plymouth to Ray and Florence Morris. She was the fifth of 10 children and attended York Academy through 12th grade. She always had a love for art and wanted to go to college for art but the family didn’t have the money for it. “I am a student of the eyes,” McGrath said. “I sometimes see things that you just can’t unsee.
