Jason Lane West, 28, of Hayes, died unexpectedly Oct. 17, 2015 in North Carolina.

Jason attended Gloucester High School and worked as a tile layer. He was an avid sportsman in hunting and fishing, a fan of the Chicago Bulls basketball and loved to paint cars. We will always remember his infectious smile and his loving and caring personality.

He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Bernard and Elaine West.

He is survived by his mother, Stephanie Evans (Al); father, Rodney L. West (Mara); maternal grandparents, Les and Sheilah Smith; paternal great-grandfather, Sam Hogge, along with many extended family and friends.

A memorial service conducted by the Rev. Wendell Gaffney will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, 2015, at New Life Ministry Center, Hayes. Inurnment will be private. The family will greet friends prior to the service on Saturday from 2-3 p.m. at the church.

In his memory, contributions may be given to Youth Challenge of Hampton Roads, 332 34th Street, Newport News, Va. 23607.
