JANET MARY LINDGREN

Janet Mary Lindgren, 83, of Gloucester, Va., passed away surrounded by her family on Friday, Oct. 30, 2015.

She was born on March 2, 1932 in Halesworth, England, and came to the United States in February 1952 on the Queen Mary. She initially made her home in Smethport, Pa., where she married Malcolm Lindgren Jr. She worked for many years at the Lindgren’s Variety Store.

Janet was an extremely loving wife, mother, grandma, sister and aunt who enjoyed the simple things in life. She was always taking care of others and opened her home to everyone; that included all of the animals that she had over the years. Her family, friends and animals brought her great joy and she is going to be missed dearly by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.

She was preceded in death by her father, Sidney James Bacon; mother, Dorothy May Bacon, and her husband of 57 years, Malcolm John Lindgren Jr.

She is survived by her son, Malcolm Lindgren III and his wife Bonnie; granddaughter, Melanie Gillikin and her husband Chris; grandson, Christopher Lindgren; sister, Joyce Simmons; brother, Sidney Bacon; great-granddaughter, Callie Isobel Gillikin, and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family received friends on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2015, from 1-2 p.m. at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point, with a celebration of her life immediately following the visitation at 2. The Rev. Jim Larsen conducted the service. Interment was in Rosewell Memorial Garden Cemetery.
