JACK JUNIOR WRIGHT

Jack Junior Wright, 80, of Gloucester, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, Saturday, April 4, 2015.

He was born in Clinton, S.C., in 1934, the oldest of five brothers and sisters, and remained until joining the U.S. Air Force in 1954.

Jack was a heavy equipment mechanic in the military. He served honorably, including a tour in Vietnam in 1968, until retiring in 1974 from the Air Force. He continued to work in Civil Service until the age of 75 when he finally retired from Norfolk Naval Base.

Jack’s love of racing and socializing led him to the VFW in Phoebus, Va., and Langley Speedway in Hampton. Jack and his late wife, Sandra Wright, enjoyed most spending time with their many friends, often sharing meals at one of their regularly frequented restaurants. They loved NASCAR and rarely missed a race, televised or in person, making the trek to the Richmond race for nearly 20 years.

Jack also loved telling stories from his past. He never met a stranger, was always open-minded and accepting of others.

Jack was preceded in death by his beloved wife Sandy by only 26 days. Till death do us part is true as their love story is like a fairytale, full of unconditional love and true happiness. The family is comforted knowing they are back together forever.

Jack is survived by his children: son, Jack E. Wright and his wife Angie; daughter, Kim Wright and her partner De; his stepchildren, Amy Pierro and her husband Jeff, Chuck Antill and his wife Michelle, and Steve Antill; also his grandchildren, Matthew, Ashley, Courtney, Lauren, Amanda and Ashley.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 11, 2015, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Andrews Funeral Home & Crematory; a reception following at Damon & Company, both in Gloucester.

Andrews Funeral Home & Crematory, Gloucester, is handling all arrangements.
