JACK CHASE

Jack Chase, 69, passed away unexpectedly on Jan. 17, 2015 at his home in Gloucester.

Jack will be missed by many friends who knew him for his sense of humor, love of croquet, bridge and family (not necessarily in that order).

He held a Master’s degree in Journalism but chose to become a cabinetmaker and spent over 40 years doing the work he loved. He leaves behind countless beautiful things that will be enjoyed for many years to come.

Jack was a dedicated member of the First Presbyterian Church, Gloucester, where he served as an elder and Sunday school teacher. He was an avid croquet player and a founder of the Middle Peninsula Croquet Club. He also served as President of the VA/WVA Croquet Association.

He is survived by his wife and soul mate of 50 years, Patty Chase; son, Aaron Chase and grandsons, John Thomas Marshall, 8, and Carter Chase, 4.

A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, Gloucester, on Friday, Jan. 23 at 1 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Middle Peninsula Croquet Club, c/o First Presbyterian Church, Box 581, Gloucester, Va. 23061.
