J.M. ‘MICKEY’ BROWN SR.

J.M. “Mickey” Brown Sr. of Port Haywood, age 72, just four days shy of his 73rd birthday, passed away on Wednesday, April 25, 2018.

He was a lifelong resident of Mathews County. Mickey graduated from Mathews High School in 1963. He retired from Huntington Ingalls in 2006 after 42 years of service in Electrical Trades training, Dept. 026. Mickey developed a successful lawn care business in 2001 and retired in 2017. He had a strong work ethic and enjoyed traveling and family times.

Mickey was preceded in death by his parents, Elton and Novella Brown; brothers, Bobby and Billy Brown, and a son, Michael Brown.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Barbara J. Brown; daughters, Michelle Barnes (Dave) and Vicky Heimerich (Mike); a brother, Wayne Brown (Christy); sister-in-law, Dana Brown; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nephews; several nieces and three stepsons, David Warren, Jason Emanuel (Megan) and Tate Emanuel (Judy).

The family received friends on Friday, April 27 from 6-8 p.m. at Faulkner Funeral Homes, Foster-Faulkner Chapel, Mathews. A funeral service was held on Saturday, April 28, 2018, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel; interment followed at H.C. Smither Cemetery.
