Island team tops Cobbs Creek in big game

There was an interesting game of base-ball played here on Saturday, August 1, between the Cobbs Creek and the Gwynn’s Island clubs, resulting in a score of 12 to 3 in favor of the Island boys. The game was largely attended, there being about 500 people present and was greatly enjoyed by all. Come again, boys, and we will give you the best we have.

A most enjoyable hayride was given Saturday night, Aug. 2, by Mr. Gilbert Bassett; leaving Blakes about six o’clock and arriving at the Court House about 7:30. The wagon was well filled with the young folks. Instrumental music was rendered by some of the young men. A number of songs were sung by the party on the way to the Court House.
