Irma Lucille Oliver of Hayes, was born Oct. 23, 1920 in Morehead City, N.C. She entered Heaven’s gates on Jan. 3, 2016.

 She was a daughter of the late Dock and Lillie Swinson. Irma had an unwavering faith in God. She had been a member of Providence Baptist Church; very active working in her church until the decline of her health. At the time of her death, Irma was a member of Gloucester Church of Christ. She was also a former member of Liberty Baptist Church, West Hampton Baptist Church and Beech Grove Baptist Church. She loved to socialize with family and friends and had a smile that lit up the room when she came in. Irma was lovingly cared for by her family and she will be missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph P. Oliver; sister, Reta Cannon; brothers, Linwood Swinson, Jessie Ray Swinson and Royce Lee Swinson.

She is survived by her sons, Michael P. Oliver and wife Billie, and Thomas Wayne Oliver; sisters, Norma Midgett, Colleen Ferree and Melva Pollard; grandson, Michael Scott Oliver; step-granddaughter, Stephanie Vaughn; step-grandson, Steven Parish; great-granddaughter, Reagan; three step-great-grandchildren, and six step-great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral service conducted by Minister Robbie Brunjes will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016, at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point. Interment will follow in Rosewell Memorial Garden Cemetery. The family will greet friends prior to the service on Saturday from 10-11 at the funeral home.
