Houtz, Dougherty receive field hockey honors

Gloucester High School junior Charlotte Houtz has been selected as this year’s Peninsula Sports Club Most Outstanding Player for Field Hockey. Her coach, Joe Dougherty, has been named the Peninsula Sports Club Coach of the Year for Class 4 Field Hockey. Houtz scored 20 goals and recorded 50 assists during the 2025 season. She has scored 205 points so far in her field hockey career at GHS. While this was the third state championship for the program, this was the team’s first state championship within Class 4. In addition to her most recent accolade, Houtz has also recently celebrated being named Class 4 State Player of the Year and been selected for the All-Tidewater First Team. The Peninsula has 22 high schools that participate in field hockey for over 400 players at the varsity level.
