A new class offered for the purpose of practicing mindfulness and meditation is being offered at the House of Ren, 6596 Main Street, Gloucester.
There will be four classes, beginning Wednesday, Oct. 29, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The cost for the series is $80. Half of the proceeds will go to Hold Fast, a nonprofit organization that supports combat veterans.
Mindfulness has been described as paying attention to the present moment and waking up to life, a release from House of Ren stated. Mindfulness has been shown to reduce anxiety and to help people respond to their emotions in healthy ways. Meditation helps people develop mindfulness and improves concentration and calmness.
