Host families sought for exchange students attending MHS

Host families are needed for the coming school year for high school foreign exchange students at Mathews High School. Aug. 30 is the deadline to apply, according to a press release from International Student Exchange. ISE is the lone exchange program serving Mathews High School.

Exchange students arrive in early September and depart in mid-June of 2017, have their own spending money and health insurance, are fluent in English and will be fully supervised for the duration of their stay, the release stated.

Anyone can host—traditional families, single parents, working parents, empty nesters, etc. Host families serve on a volunteer basis and the only cost to hosting is room and board. Families are asked to treat students as members of their own family so they can experience day-to-day American culture.

Students are matched based on shared interests and hobbies and can be selected based on country of origin and gender. ISE works with over 40 countries.
