Home schoolers to take part in Gloucester pilot program

Twenty-one formerly home-schooled students have enrolled in Gloucester County Public Schools to take part in the school division’s virtual learning home school pilot program.

The program provides home schoolers with an online curriculum approved by the Virginia Department of Education. High school level students will utilize the Apex Learning online curriculum already in use by the school division. The division is in the process of purchasing a VDOE-approved online program for home-schooled elementary and middle school students.

Program participants will continue to complete their school work at home and must have a parent who will act as a "learning coach." The students are expected to meet all requirements for grade-level advancement and graduation.
