Real estate broker Wendy Hogge is the third generation owner of Hogge Real Estate, Inc., located on Main Street in Gloucester.

She finds success in learning how to cope with challenging circumstances. For instance, she worked through the recession of 2008 by learning how to sell homes repossessed by banks.

“Women-owned businesses in small towns used to be very challenging” Hogge said. But she had been working for many years and knows the ins-and-outs.

Hogge once worked for local agent Walter Jackson, learning much of value; and was with her father, the late E. Claiborne Hogge, the prior owner of the company, for 22 years, until his death in 2007. “The knowledge he taught me got me through the recession,” Wendy said.

She has won numerous awards in real estate organizations, including Salesperson of the Year in 1987.

The key to her success? “Communication is the key … listening to clients,” she said.
