Hearing aid company opens Gloucester branch

Beltone Hearing Aid Center opened a branch on Aug. 11 on Gloucester’s Main Street.

Beltone is the first business to open in the building Nam Vu is renovating. That building most recently housed Gloucester County Office Building #3 (planning and zoning) and previously was the site of a timber company and an automotive business.

Ray Scott of Ashland, a certified hearing aid specialist, operates the Gloucester office part-time. He also works part-time in the Beltone office in Williamsburg.

Using a series of tones, Scott conducts tests to determine if a person needs a hearing aid. Beltone offers many types and styles of aids, he said, some worn in the ear and others worn outside the ear. Scott previously had a Beltone franchise in Richmond for seven years. Also, he served 28 years in the U.S. Army, with his highest rank major.
