HANNAH M. WARING

Hannah M. Waring, age 80, of Mathews, with her loving family at home, stepped into the presence of Jesus on Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2015.

She was born in Delaware, Ontario, Canada on Feb. 4, 1935. She met her late husband, Sgt. 1st class, William J. Waring, while he was on leave from the U.S. Army. After traveling the world, they settled in Mathews County for the last 43 years. Hannah was a devoted Christian and active member of Christ Church in Mathews and an active member of the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary. She enjoyed sewing, quilting with Bay Quilters and reading.  However, her greatest passion in life was her love for her husband, children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Edith Scott of Ontario, Canada, and her husband, William J. Waring.

Hannah is survived by her brother, Charles and Joyce Scott, and her sister, Helen Johnson of Ontario, Canada; her five daughters, Frances and Wayne Parker of Alcova, Wyo., Susan and Ralph De Lucia of Cobbs Creek, Nancy and John Gilliland of Hopkinsville, Ky., Judy and Roy Fochtmann of Hardyville, Karen and David Gayle of Bohannon; also nine grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 25, 2015 at Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home in Mathews. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015 at 10 a.m. at Christ Church in Mathews.
