Halloween happenings begin tomorrow

Make sure your candy bowls are filled to the brim because little ghouls, goblins and witches are scheduled to descend upon Gloucester Main Street tomorrow evening from 5-7.

Traffic will be closed from the court circle to Edgehill Town Center for the duration of Friday’s Trick or Treat on Main Street to create a safe environment for trick-or-treaters and their families. The community is invited to dress up, visit participating businesses for treats, and enjoy Halloween activities.

The second iteration of the Gloucester Main Street Costume Contest, sponsored by Chesapeake Bank, will take place. Participants can pre-register online or sign up onsite at Main Street’s Trick or Treat station on the House of Ren lawn. Entries close at 6:30 p.m. with winners to be announced shortly after. Participants must be present to win.

New this year, Main Street businesses have the option to participate in a Halloween Window Decorating Contest. Halloween night, visitors are encouraged to check out the displays and vote for their favorite window at the Trick-or-Treat station. Following the event, the Gloucester Main Street Association will announce the winner on social media.

Also, from 5-7 p.m. Friday, join Gloucester County Public Library at its Main Street Center location for its annual Spooktacular celebration. All ages are welcome to visit and trick-or-treat in the library.

The Mathews Volunteer Fire Department will hold trunk or treat events from 5:30-8 p.m. Friday at Station 1 in Mathews, Station 2 in Bohannon and Station 3 on Gwynn’s Island.

Gloucester Parks, Recreation & Tourism’s Halloween Spooktacular Driving Tour is ongoing. Visitors can enjoy 15 Halloween-themed locations throughout the county. A map can be found on the PR&T Facebook page.
