Guinea Jubilee kicks off Friday

Thousands of visitors and residents are expected to flock to the Abingdon Ruritan Club grounds this weekend for the 32nd annual Guinea Jubilee. The event will kick off Friday at 3 p.m. and continue through Saturday with more than 70 vendors and a variety of family-friendly activities.

Guinea Jubilee committee chair Elliott Hogge said that in addition to the many vendors featuring crafts, fine arts and information, there will be 16 professional food vendors. "The man in charge has been diligent to make sure there is no repetition and every food vendor will be different," Hogge said.

All of the regular activities that make the Jubilee unique will continue this year, including the Crab Walk/Run, Pedal the Loop bike ride, Abingdon Firemen’s Parade, the Anchor Throwing and Crab Pot Pulling contests, car show, fireworks and musical entertainment.
