Former Gloucester High School student and athlete Allison Goodwin scored the winning goal for the William and Mary field hockey team, to defeat Duke University for the first time in 21 years.
The No. 21-ranked W&M hockey team scored two third-quarter goals Sunday to top No. 16-ranked Duke, 2-1, for the first time since 2001.
Goodwin, a junior midfielder, has two goals so far through six games.
