The Gloucester County Chesapeake Bay Preservation & Erosion Commission approved three buffer modification applications during a meeting Feb. 8 in the colonial courthouse.

Linda Walthall, secretary to the commission, said that the application of Mary L. Price was approved as presented by a 5-0 vote, chairman Bronco Bayless and member Rachel Strawn absent. Neither alternate, Troy Andersen or Rick Klein, was able to attend the meeting, Walthall said.

Price sought buffer modification to the required 100-foot Resource Protection Area to expand a deck/handicap ramp to an existing single-family home at 4271 Claybank Acres Lane. Commission member Walter Priest said that the land has been managed naturally and he saw no substantial impact from this project.

The application of Michael Derrig was conditionally approved, Walthall said. Derrig sought buffer modification to convert an existing carport and workshop to an enclosed garage at 7911 Berkeley Drive, Gloucester Point.
