Gloucester presentation to focus on helping small-scale farmers

Virginia Cooperative Extension will sponsor a program Tuesday to inform small-scale farmers about the many services to help them that exist on the federal, state and local levels. The deadline to register is Friday.

David Moore, Extension agent based in Middlesex County who also serves Gloucester and Mathews, said the program, “Resources for Small Farmers,” will be held from 10 a.m.-noon at Roadside Nursery, 5900 George Washington Memorial Highway, Gloucester.

Moore said the program will help new farmers and ranchers that might be “lost in a maze of government alphabet soup as they try to access these services.”

Patrick Johnson, a representative of Virginia State University, will begin the program with an introduction to VSU’s Small Business Outreach. Moore will then present Extension updates.
