Gloucester Point residents attend Mathews Chautauqua

Among the large number of people from Gloucester attending the Chautauqua on Monday were Mr. and Mrs. A.W. Clopton and party from Gloucester Point.

Mrs. L.C. Garnett was called to Washington on Tuesday by a telegram which announced that Mr. Garnett had been severely injured while playing golf Monday.

The Mathews Chautauqua season of 1918 came to an end last night and the hundreds who attended the many entertainments were amply repaid for the time and money spent. The lectures were interesting and instructive, and the auditors left with a broader knowledge of life necessities in this war-time day. The musical numbers were well received and the performers were roundly applauded. Taken as a whole the Chautauqua was a success socially; educationally, it met every demand, and financially it was all the guarantors expected.
