During Friday night’s opening ceremonies for the 2012 Olympics, Gloucester Point resident Tucker Witt is sure to be paying close attention as Team USA walks on the field. After all, his nephew is one of the premier athletes who has made it to this pinnacle of success.

Coleman Scott, a 2008 NCAA wrestling champion, earned the final spot on the U.S. Olympic wrestling team following a wrestle-off last month in Times Square in New York City. Scott’s mother is Mary Witt Scott, Witt’s sister and a 1974 graduate of Gloucester High School.

Scott was a three-time Pennsylvania state champion when he wrestled for Waynesburg Central High School. From there, he went to Oklahoma State University, where he was a four-time All American for the Cowboys. He will be competing in the 132 lbs. (60 kg.) freestyle wrestling class at the Olympics.
