Gloucester Point resident managing region’s Subway restaurants

Kristy Smith has been named chief executive district manager for 10 Subway restaurants in the region, including three stores in Gloucester and one in Mathews.

Marvin and Malvina Crane of Achilles, own the local franchise stores with their daughter, Sydney Bristow-Hancock of Achilles.

Smith has worked for Subway for more than 10 years, having started as a crew member at a Gloucester store. She resides with her family at Gloucester Point.

Mary Fields of Toano, has been hired to fill Smith’s previous position of district manager. Fields has worked for more than 20 years in several other Subway stores.

Smith announced that the local franchise Subway stores owned by the Crane family have raised $22,000 from May through August to benefit the American Diabetes Association  

“We’ve topped our goal of $20,000,” Smith said. Last year, the local stores collected approximately $17,800 in donations.
