The third annual Kiwanis Club of Kiln Creek Pickleball Open was held on May 30-June 1, raising almost $5,000 for the club to benefit children.
The event brought in 165 players from across Eastern Virginia. Among the donations, a $1,200 check was presented to the club by CAM OHANA Pickleball co-founder Carlos Morales of Gloucester, the event’s sponsor.
Many members of Gloucester Pickleball Club participated in the tournament and medaled in their events.
Local medal winners included:
Men’s Doubles (Skill 3.0, 3.5+) Ages 60+: Ricky Kinser and Tim Clements (both from Gloucester), first place.
Men’s Doubles (Skill 3.0) Ages 12 through 59: Douglas Thomas (Mathews) and Ansgar Larson (Gloucester), first place.
Men’s Doubles (Skill 3.5) Ages 12 through 49: Patrick Ledford (Mathews) and Craig Thomas, third place.
Men’s Doubles (Skill 4.0) All Ages: Dylan Thomas (York County) and Justin Clements (Gloucester), first place.
