Attendees at this year’s Gloucester Daffodil Festival took part in an informal poll held by the Gloucester County Democratic Committee at their booth, according to GCDC chair Pamela Garner.
The purpose of the poll was to learn people’s concerns firsthand. Five main topics included: K-12 education, the economy, Social Security, public safety, and civil rights. Subtopics covered Head Start; the teacher shortage and Title I; cost of living; wages; health care; jobs; housing and childcare; Medicare, Medicaid and veterans; the environment; workplace safety; food safety; infrastructure and crime; voting rights; women’s rights, and the Bill of Rights.
Topics were chosen to cover a wide range of concerns, Garner said. Many expressed specific concerns that were not listed but were able to find a broader category to vote their concern, she added.
