GHS track produces 3 conference champs

Gloucester High School produced three conference champions and 15 regional qualifiers during the Conference 10 Track and Field Meet held May 19 and 20 at Todd Stadium in Newport News. 

For the Gloucester girls, Vivian Pryor won the shot put, set a meet record and earned MileStat Elite Athlete status with her throw of 37’11”. Ainsley Miller won the pole vault by clearing eight feet and teammate Kate Neikirk was second by clearing six feet.

Alyssa Lass was third in the 1,600 meter race in 5:55.88 and the 3,200 relay team took third place in 11:19.2. Kristin Ipock ran down a Bethel runner so she and relay teammates Allison Kladler, Makala White and Katherine Saunders could qualify for the regional meet. Ruby Williams also qualified with a fifth-place finish in the 800 in 2:36.3.

Also representing GHS, Desiree Walker was fifth in the 400 in 55.15 and her 1,600 relay team was fifth in 4:36.4. Saunders was eighth in the 800 in 2:43.4 and Kladler was ninth in the 800 in 2:...
