GHS indoor track gets off to strong start

The GHS indoor track season started last Wednesday, Dec. 5, with numerous personal records and qualifiers for the regional meet. Ainsley Miller also secured a state tournament qualification in the pole vault jumping 9’0”.

On the boys’ side, Joe Conroy placed first in shot put, with a 42’ throw. In the 1,600 meter run, Mikey Toms placed third with a time of 5:13, followed closely by Justin Burgess and Austin Ezell. Aaron Shipe ran the 1,000m and placed third with a time of 2:50. 

For the girls, the top three spots in the 1,000m were all secured by Dukes, with Cara O’Beirne and Nicole Pinder both turning in a 3:27 and Marranda Hansford with a time of 3:34. 

In terms of the regional meet, Dukes qualifiers were O’Beirne, Pinder, Miller, Conroy and Shipe.
