GHS golfers fail to advance to state tournament

Gloucester High School golfers played well in the 5A South Regional Tournament at The Hamptons last week but the Conference 10 champions did not advance to the state tournament.
Deep Run won the regional event with a two-day score of 630, followed by Mills Godwin with 632, Matoaca with 636 and Gloucester with 675. The top two teams and the top six individuals not on those teams get state tourney bids. 
A Deep Run golfer had the best individual score with a 72 the first day and 74 the second for a score of 146. Hunter Martin had the best showing for the Dukes with an 85 and a 76 for a score of 161 and 15th place in a field of 69. Cameron Baker had an 82 and 81 for 163 and 18th place.
