GHS girls shut out Denbigh, 15-0; two games remain

Gloucester High School varsity field hockey players added another win to their undefeated record with a 15-goal blanking of Denbigh last Thursday. 

The Patriots, with only nine players, trailed 10-0 at halftime. In the second half, the Lady Dukes sent only seven players in to practice for overtime situations. Those seven still produced five more goals before the game was cut short by the mercy rule. 

H.P. Johnson and Elizabeth Thomas each had three goals while two apiece came from Cara O’Beirne, Tally Vaughan and Karagan Winfrey. Meg Teagle, Farren Winter and Alyssa O’Beirne also scored.

Kessa Romero had three scoring assists and assists were contributed by Carli Walke, Winter, Winfrey and A. O’Beirne. 

The Lady Dukes only have two games remaining in the regular season, including a 4 p.m. matchup today at Warwick. Their final game of the schedule is set for Oct. 26 with Phoebus at GHS.
