The Gloucester High School varsity field hockey team secured the number-one seeding in the upcoming regional tournament to be held at GHS by defeating the Warhill Lions on Tuesday, 2-0.
The Lady Dukes did it in dominating fashion by controlling the tempo of the game and outshooting the Lions, 17-6. Addy Zabicki added another shutout to her career with number 51 by making six saves.
The team also earned 11 penalty corners to only giving up a scattered four. Both goals were scored by senior Hannah Symonds and assisted by sophomore Aaliyah Mattocks. Senior Peyton Sutton set up the first goal, making a precision pass to Mattocks who back-handed the ball to Symonds. The second goal was set up by a pass from A.V. Wymer to Mattocks to Symonds. The Lions cluttered the circle with all 11 players any time the Dukes got close to the circle.
