The Gloucester High School varsity field hockey team split a pair of matches this past week of game play, defeating Bruton, 12-0, last Thursday at home and falling to Poquoson, 3-1, on the road Monday.
Charlotte Houtz led her team to victory Thursday night by recording three goals and six assists. Seniors Hannah Symonds and Peyton Sutton both reached scored their 100th career points during the match.
Other contributing goal scorers were Ayelu Mason, Maddie Rowe, Ayla Fernandes and Ellary Miller. Lacey Carpenter added her first career goal as a varsity player. Hailee Johnston, normally a defender, also scored a goal. In total, the team took 24 shots on the goal.
