A majority of the Gloucester High School varsity field hockey team, including a few players from Prince George and Northumberland, took the silver medal at the Sunshine Showcase in Orlando, Florida, the last weekend of January. The competition is an opportunity for players to showcase their skills in front of over 100 college coaches. While there, the GHS players competed against teams from Missouri, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. They finished with a competitive record of 3-3, while taking second-place. Peninsula Field Hockey Over the weekend, the Peninsula Field Hockey Club was represented by teams in the U-12, U-14, U-16 and U-19 divisions. The teams played opponents from Pennsylvania, Ohio, North Carolina, Virginia and Delaware. Of the four teams represented, Peninsula U-16 won the gold medal by defeating five teams and scoring 38 points over those five matches.
