Gloucester Rowing Association’s Men’s Junior 4+ team took second place in the 2025 Virginia Scholastic Rowing Association State Championships over the weekend. Gloucester High School crew members Willis Redding, Zach Hudson, Jacob Gross, Tristan Buswell and coxswain Josh Littlefield made up the boat.
In their qualifying heat earlier that day, team members recorded the fastest time across all heats in the event. Gloucester was seeded as ninth out of 15 teams.
“They earned this,” said head coach Zach Moore. “They practice in tough water and with aging gear, and they’re still not just keeping up—they’re leading. What they did this weekend is a testament to heart, work ethic and belief.”
Also, during the championships, the Men’s Novice 4+ team competed, placing fifth out of 16 competitors. Team members included Joseph Boulay, Jacob English, Blake Dorris, Zackory Crowell and coxswain Jakob Johnson.
