GHS baseball ties Bethel, defeats Kecoughtan

The Gloucester High School varsity baseball team celebrated a win against the Kecoughtan Warriors Tuesday night after ending up in a 10-10 tie with the Bethel Bruins last Thursday.

The Dukes dominated throughout the Kecoughtan game, leading and attaining the final score of 6-0 after only four innings. Austin Shackelford was on the mound for the Dukes, only allowing two hits in six innings. He achieved 10 strikeouts in 22 batters.

Gloucester’s batting lineup was successful at the plate Tuesday night with four out of nine batters getting hits. Catcher Hank Hardaway led the way, going two-for-three at the plate and driving in one run.

The Dukes will play again this afternoon at Kecoughtan High School, beginning at 4:30.
