GHS athletes begin indoor track season

Gloucester High School athletes began their 2017-2018 indoor track and field season with the Peninsula Meet #1 on Dec. 6 at the Boo Williams Sportsplex in Hampton. 

Pole vaulter Ainsley Miller won her event and qualified for regional and state meets. Cara O’Beirne was fourth in the 1,000 meter race and Makala White was fifth. The team of Noah Bondurant, Nicholas McGlone, Tyler Brown and Jacob Knight was fourth in the 3,200 relay.

The GHS track and field program hosted its annual GHS Pre-Holiday Invitational at the Boo Williams Sportsplex Friday and Saturday. The event attracted 44 teams comprised of 1,100 athletes. 

In sub-varsity races, Gloucester’s Zack Foley won the 55 meter dash and Jamell Fields was third, and Tanner Baker won the 1600.

In sub-varsity relays, Baker, Foley, Brown and Conner O’Beirne won the 1,600 and Baker, Brown, Joshua Ipock and O’Beirne won the 3,200. Alyssa Lass was third in the varsity 1,000 race. ...
