GEORGIE LEE PRESTON

Georgie Lee Preston, age 86, of Mathews, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2015.

Georgie was born April 21, 1929 to Walter James Hudgins and Lois Thelma Hudgins. Georgie was a charter member of the Mathews Rescue Squad, a Geriatric Nursing Assistant, a Past Matron of Oriental Chapter No. 30, OES, and a member of Central United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Robert Thomas Preston Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memories her sons, Robert Wayne (Sandra) and Gilbert Keith Preston; her daughter, Brenda Preston Lewis (Mark). She loved and cherished her six grandchildren: Ryan Steven Lewis (Sarah), Jonathan Gabriel Lewis (Amanda), Robert Wayne Preston Jr. (Shakima), Sherrie P. Ellis, Benjamin Keith Preston, Andrew Orian Preston and their mother, Carol Moss Preston. Granny loved her 10 great-grandchildren: Emily and Gabrielle Lewis, Madeline, Seth and Annabelle Duncan, Alyssa, Aaliyah and Johely Ellis, Rhaiyn and Elijah Preston. She leaves her brother, James Franklin Hudgins; her nieces, Dinah Respess (Leland) and Patricia L. Miles, and her son, John Lee Miles Jr.

Georgie was everybody’s Granny and loved her Hamburger Boys: Richard Downs and Michael Munn Jr. She cherished her friendships with Eileen Haywood, Mike and Jeanie Beavers, Geneva Munn, David Hudgins and Nancy Jagger.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, Nov. 12, 2015, from 7-8 p.m. at Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews, with an Eastern Star service at 7 o’clock. A memorial service will be held on Friday, Nov. 13, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Central United Methodist Church, followed by a visitation and a meal. There will be a private burial.
