The Garden Club of Gloucester and Mathews Board of Directors met for one last time to close out the fiscal year and prepare for new initiatives in the coming years. The meeting was held on May 4 at Gloucester Library. “In looking back, we are grateful to our membership for organizing community events such as a coat drive, decorating the Courthouse Circle with wreaths and greenery during the holiday, preparing holiday wreaths for the residents of Sanders Assisted Living, a Food Drive, a flower-arranging workshop for kids during the Daffodil Festival, and an arts and flowers exhibit at the Fine Arts Museum of Gloucester,” said outgoing president Lynne Manning. Additionally, the club donated benches and legacy trees to Machicomoco Park and to Beaverdam Park, as well as a plaque honoring the club’s contribution to the building of the Courthouse wall in the 1930s.
