For the seventh year Charles and Mari Ann Banks have opened their doors at White Hall Plantation for the event “Food from the Heart.” The food pantries at Abingdon Episcopal Church, St. Therese Roman Catholic Church, Susanna Wesley United Methodist Church and Union Baptist Church will have their shelves replenished with proceeds from this two-day event. They will also receive the bags of non-perishable food items, a requirement for entry plus a ticket.
Food from the Heart originated from the Bankses’ generosity, concern for others and their love for people.
US Foods is a great supporter of this annual event. Its chefs, headed by Chef Bill Brooks and our own local chef Mark Letchworth, shared their culinary skills. All of the cooking hints and delicious dishes served kept guests at the four sessions “ooh-ing” and “ah-ing” for two hours.
